Mangaluru, Oct 19: The health department is developing Wenlock hospital in the city at a cost of Rs 11 crores.
Minister for health Dinesh Gundu Rao visited the hospital on Wednesday and inspected the ICU, pharmacy, OPD, surgery and other sections.
Later, Gundu Rao held a meeting and discussed the required infrastructure for the development of the hospital. He said that the hospital gets sufficient funds under AB ARK. Nearly Rs 20 crore income is generated in the hospital itself. However, most of the income is used for buying medicines. State health department has to provide medicines. Action is taken in this regard.
According to the development plan, medicine godown will be built in the hospital. In addition, medical document section, MDRTB ward, garbage room for medical waste will be constructed.
New dialysis unit with 30 beds at a cost of Rs two crore. Rs 1.75 crore for fire safety works. Two crore for repair and renovation of OPD and administrative section. Rs 1.5 crore for construction of kitchen for hospital. New medical equipment for surgical block and furniture. This will incur cost of Rs four crore. Rs one crore cost for over connecting bridge from new medical block to Trauma block.
Dinesh Gundu Rao visited the dialysis unit and expressed unhappiness over the improper system. He questioned the officials of not providing AC in the unit. The unit will get 13 new single use dialysis machines. He also listened to the complaints of public and assured them of corrective measures within short time.
