Mangaluru, Oct 19: Customs officials at Mangaluru International Airport seized gold smuggled by two passengers here on October 17.
On the basis of profiling by the officers of Mangaluru Customs, two passengers (one male and one female) travelling from Dubai to Mangaluru by Air India Express flight IX 814 were intercepted.
The cheek portion of the male passenger wearing a mask appeared to be abnormal and further checking revealed concealment of two gold cut pieces inside his mouth. Checking of the female passenger revealed concealment of gold as small rhodium coated beads in her hair rubber band.
In the two cases, gold of 24 carat totally weighing 191 grains (net) valued at Rs 11,44,090 was recovered from the two passengers.
