Mangaluru, Oct 16: A chain of accidents involving six vehicles occurred on the Netravati River new bridge this evening due to a lorry breakdown. The crashes were triggered by untimely rain.
The lorry, traveling from Mangaluru towards Thokkottu, malfunctioned and broke down in the middle of the bridge. Concurrently, heavy rain began. An Alto car lost control and collided with the rear of the lorry. Subsequently, a Ritz car, a Contessa car, a pickup truck, and finally, a private bus en route to Kumpala collided in succession. Several individuals sustained minor injuries in the mishap.
This sequence of accidents led to a disruption in NH 66 traffic for approximately two hours.
The Mangaluru South traffic police cleared the traffic.
