Udupi, Aug 22: Indian Catholic Youth Movement of Kolalgiri Unit organized Kallianpur Varado Yuva Mahotsav 2011 at Kolalgiri church hall on Sunday August 21.
The programme was inaugurated by Kallianpur Deanery vicar Fr Stany B Lobo from Milagres Church Kallianpur.
After the Inaugural function Fr Nelson Pinto shared his views about youth identity, youth's reaction to the fast growing world and about how they are easily affected by the surroundings. Valedictory of the Yuva Mahotsav was held in the evening. Fr Pascal Menezes, Udupi District Youth Director was the Chief Guest along with priests from Kallianpur Varado parishes.
Variety of games and cultural competition were conducted by the ex- Udupi district ICYM president Dr Manoj Maxim D’Lima.
New varado youth committee was formed and Ivan D’silva from Holy family Church Brahmavar has been elected as the new president for the year 2011–12. While Sunil Steevan D’Souza, Pethri, Namya B Pinto of Mount Rosary Kallianpur have become vice presidents, Jasmine Mendonca, Barkur and Joel Lewis have become secretary and joint secretary respectively and Sheldon Olivera from Kemman has been elected as treasurer, Jennifer Lobo of Kolalgiri has become the varado representative along with Glisten D’Souza of Kolalgiri as sports and cultural secretary for the year 2011– 12.
Principal Milagreas PU College Fr Ivan Michael Rodrigues has been appointed as the new director of the ICYM Kallianpur Varado.
Youth director of the Varado Fr Philip Neri Aranha, parish Priest of Kolalgiri Church Fr Edwin D’Souza, Principal of Milagres PU College Fr Ivan Michael Rodrigues, president of Udupi District ICYM Ovin Rebello, vice president of parish pastoral of Kolalgiri Church Helen D’Souza, secretary of parish pastoral Kolalgiri Queeni M D’Souza, president of Kolalgiri ICYM unit Naveen Rodrigues among others were present.
As many as 120 youngsters from seven parishes were present for the programme.
Kallianpur varado youth president Wilson D’Sa welcomed the gathering and Ivan D’silva proposed the vote of thanks.
