Mangaluru: Holy Rosary senior citizens’ home inaugurated by Sr Milly Fernandes, blessed by bishop

Mangaluru, Oct 8: Holy Rosary Senior Citizens’ Home located at Jeppu in Mangaluru was inaugurated by Sr Milly Fernandes, superior general of Ursuline Franciscan Congregation and blessed by Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese.

The councillors general Sr Rita Vas, Sr Juliana Pinto, Sr Lydia Serrao and Sr Philomena Noronha unveiled the plaque. Thereafter the grotto of Our Lady of Rosary located at the centre of the building, surrounded with colourful water fountain was blessed by bishop.

The Eucharistic celebration was held at the chapel of the home. Dedicating the house to the patronage of our Lady of Rosary, Bishop emphasised the significance of the devotion of Rosary and called upon the gathering to pray Rosary and grow under the mantle of our Lady. He congratulated Ursuline Franciscan Sisters for their unassuming service to the church and society through varied ministries and extending the same to the senior citizens’ with much love and care.

A short felicitation programme was held recognising the industrious labour of the engineer Nithin Raj and Associates, contractor Richard Rodrigues, Velankani Constructions, Anil Shetty, the structural engineer and all those who contributed much to erect the beautiful edifice.

Sr Milly Fernandes, superior general welcomed the gathering. Sr Lydia Serrao facilitated the honouring ceremony, Rita Vas proposed vote of thanks and Sr Philomena Noronha compered the programme.
