Bhatkal, Aug 21: Large number of people turned out on Bhatkal streets supporting Anna Hazare, who is fasting at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi against large scale corruption in the country and strong Lokpal Bill.
The protesters, after rallying through several streets including Shamsuddin circles, Main Road, NH-17 gathered in-front of Assistant Commissioner’s office, wherein a memorandum was submitted to the Bhatal AC, Rajiv Moger.
Surendra Shanbhag said, ‘Corruption is a biggest threat to our nation even bigger than terrorism. It needs to be uprooted before it can do more damage.’
Inayatullah Shabandri, President TMC said, ‘People of Bhatkal are with Anna Hazare for his fight against corruption. We are not supporting particular group or party but we are supporting the cause’
The rally was supported by several organizations of Bhatkal including Nagarika Vedike, Majlis Islah wa Tanzeem, Sevavahini, Auto rickshaw union, Tempo union, Bar Association, SIO, ABVP, Journalist Union and students from several Schools and Colleges.
Bhatkal Journalist Association extends support to Anna Hazare
Bhatkal Taluk's Working Journalist Association on Saturday August 20, staged protest in-front of Assistant Commissioner's office and submitted a memorandum to the Bhatkal AC, Raju Moger supporting Anna Hazare’s movement against corruption and for a strong Jan Lokpal Bill.
On the occasion, association president, Raghavendra Hebbar demanded unconditional release of Anna Hazare from Tihar Jail and to allow him to stage Satyagraha against corruption.
Members Satish Kumar, Radhakrishna Bhat, Inayatullah Gawai, Rizwan Gangawali, Bhaskar Naik amongst other who were present.
