Mangalore: Advocates, Various Association Members on Street to Back Anna

Mangalore, Aug 18: Protests, Silent Processions, demonstrations and rallies were held by different organizations in the city for a single cause, demanding the speedy introduction of strong Lokpal Bill.
The protesters also denounced the Government’s act of arresting Gandhian Anna Hazare. The prominent organizations which organized the protests included the Mangalore Bar Association, South Kanara Photographers’ Association, Karnataka Rakshana Vedhike, Jayakarnataka Association among others.
The Mangalore Bar Association organized a silent parade from the district court to the DC’s office on Thursday August 18.
Addressing the protesters the president of the association S P Chengappa said that the members of the association will be the always there to voice against the illegal and unlawful acts in the city as well as country.
Though India has got freedom many years ago it has still not got the much needed political freedom, he remarked.
Noting the various scams like 2G Spectrum, common wealth games, and so on, in which the members of Union Government are involved, he said that the Government for no appropriate reason has rejected the Lokpal Bill several times, that shows how clean it is, he added.
The Jayakarnataka Association also held a protest in front of the DC’s office backing Team Anna. They burned an effigy of PM Manmohan Singh expressing their anguish.
