Mangaluru, Sep 28: The Mangaluru round of 64th edition of Ramnarayan Chellaram Rotoquiz, the oldest running quiz in the world was held on September 23 at SDM PG Centre for Management and Research.
The Mangaluru round of the quiz was sponsored by Ideal Ice cream, in association with the Rotary Club of Mangalore and Rotaract Club of SDM PG Centre, was a grand success with 63 teams i.e. 126 students participating in the quiz contest.
The registrations started as early on Saturday morning following which the students gathered at the SDM conference hall. The event started with a prayer and was then handed over to the quiz master Rtn CA Prasanna Shenoy who briefed the students about the rules and regulations and the prizes involved. This was followed by the 30 minutes 60 questions quiz contest.
The first prize was bagged by Nischal R & Shreevatsa Acharya B (MBBS interns) from Kasturba Medical College, Mangaluru, They have won the quiz for the second year running. The second place was bagged by B Manjunath Pai & Sanketh Alva from St Aloysius College, the third place went to Shashank Raju Singit & Karthik Karanthfrom NITK Surathkal,and the fourth place was secured by Shankaragouda & Arun M Myagerifrom NITK, Surathkal.
All the winners were given a trophy and certificates along with cash prizes handed over by the chief guest and event sponsor Mukund Kamath, proprietor of Ideal Ice Cream. Rtn Kishan Kumar, president of Rotary Club of Mangaluru, Rtn Dr Siddarth Shetty, secretary of RCM, Rtn JP Rao, youth service director of RCM, Rtn Mayur Sheregar, convenor of Mangaluru Rotoquiz, Dr Seema S Shenoy, director SDM PG centre, Dr Savitha Pereira, professor and staff coordinator of Rotaract Club of SDM PG Centre and Rtr Karthik, president of Rotaract Club of SDM PG Centre were also present.
The winners from the Mangaluru round got an opportunity to participate in the finals at Bengaluru conducted by the Rotary Club of Bengaluru on September 25. The Mangaluru event was successfully conducted and managed by the Rotaractors from the Rotaract Club of SDM PG centre with guidance and support from the Rotary Club of Mangaluru.
