Udupi, Sep 23: The department of mechanical engineering, Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal in association with ISTE student chapter organized 30 hours professional development programme on 'CNC Programming & Hands-on training' for the benefit of mechanical engineering students in the month of August-September 2023.
The principal Dr Thirumaleshwara Bhat inaugurated the programme. In his address, he explained the importance of value added programmes along with the regular academics. Also, he appreciated the efforts of the organizers for planning a useful programme for the benefit of the students. The course consisted of both theory sessions as well as hands-on sessions with CNC machines.
Sudhir, Karthik V and Srikanth Shettigar were the resource persons of the programme. As a part of the programme, an industrial visit was organized to Karavali Interiors and Furnitures, Manipal Industrial Area, Manipal on Septermber 16.
The students were exposed to several automated machines in the wood working industry including tape binding, cutting and loading. The students experienced working with a CNC machine for woodworking and carving.
Sudhir and Aditya Kudva S from the department of mechanical engineering were the overall coordinators of the programme.
