Doha (Qatar), Sep 14: Konkani Speaking Community (KSC) celebrated Monthi Fest with great fervour at Our Lady of Rosary parish, here on September 8 feast Mass.

The festal celebrations were preceded by 9-day novenas beginning from August 30. Fr Joel Lopes, OFM Cap from Mangauru took the congregation on a spiritual journey during these 9-day novenas with his powerful and touching reflections on Word of God and role of Mother Mary in one’s life and family. St Cecilia’s Choir Group, Good Shepherd choir and Children choir group had given different flavors in the nine-day novena Mass celebration.

Before the feast Mass, novenas sponsors and patrons were honored with candles.

Fr Joel Lopes, OFM Cap concelebrated festal Eucharistic celebration and delivered festal message to the congregation. A melodious Mangalurean Konkani choir by St Cecilia’s Choir Group was highlight of the festal Eucharistic celebration. Guest priest Fr William Miranda from Carmel Jyothi also joins the 9-day novenas and feast Mass celebrations.

New paddy sheaves were brought back from Mangaluru, India was blessed and distributed to the congregation after festal Eucharistic celebration.

After the Mass, Konkani community president Aloysius D'Souza and Usher president Nery Alphonso joined together to felicitate Fr Joel Lopes with shawl and memento for his spiritual service.

Feast celebration concluded with distribution of sweets and very first time issued sugar canes to all children as Mangaluru traditional style of Monthi feast celebration.
