Golden Insignia Awards Presented to Budding Journos of St Aloysius College

Mangalore, Aug 11: The first annual Total Mobile Golden Insignia Awards 2011 of the department of mass communication and media studies (MCMS ), St Aloysius College were presented at a glittering ceremony in the college campus on Thursday August 11.
Chief guest of the event, Tharanath Shetty of Janashri Channel congratulated the budding journalists who were honoured during the ceremony.
The winners of the awards are:
Best Anchor (male) – Abhishek J Shetty. Award presented by Fr Walter Andrade and Mukesh from Total Mobiles.
Best Anchor (female) – Sushmitha Kirodian. Award presented by Raghu from V4 Media and HOD of biotechnology Dr Smitha Hegde.
Best Innovation - Namratha Sharma for the name 'Campus Eye'. Award presented by Bhavya from the department of Journalism and Kiran from ETV.
Best Feature Story - Abhishek and Yathin for 'Dumping Yard'. Award presented by Ravi Posavanike from The Times of India and Dr Richard Rego, HOD of mass communication and media studies
Best Episode - Patterson Fernandes. Award presented by Prof N D Shetty, department of Kannada and Violet Pereira.
Best Cameraperson - Dinesh Nirawdekar. Award presented by Ronald Pinto, vice-principal, Xavier Block and Kiran from ETV.
Best Video Editor - Yathin Moolya. Award presented by Loveena Lobo, HOD of MSW and Nanda Gopal, director of CIL.
Best Scriptwriter - Almas Nazeer. Award presented by Fr Francis Almeida, campus minister and Ronald Fernandes, editor, Deccan Herald, Mangalore.
Best Assignment Editor - Petula Dias. Award presented by advocate Anita Shenoy and Sr Avia D'Souza.
The awards have been instituted to celebrate the 50th weekly episode of Campus Eye, the indigenously produced student news bulletin of the department of MCMS, telecast every Sunday at 8:30 pm on V4 News.
The 15-minute bulletin, showcasing various campus events from colleges across Mangalore, is produced in-house by MCMS students, who handle everything from field reporting, video editing, news presentation and content delivery. They make use of fully equipped MCMS broadcast studio at St Aloysius College with presentation floor, multiple high-end professional video cameras and Apple Macintosh editing machine.
The event was held to recognise and honour budding student journalists who have worked on the past 49 weekly episodes.
