Bengaluru, Sep 4: It has come to light that the union government has not released even a single penny in the current financial year for the 61 projects supported by it that are in implementation in various departments of the state.
Last year, the union government released Rs 10447.91 crore for the 61 schemes that are being implemented through 23 different departments of the state. However, this fiscal, though the month of August is over, it has not sent even a rupee as per sources of state financial department.
Sources said that all schemes are stopped right now as the union government has not released any funds. Ekroop Karu, secretary of financial department has sent a letter in this regard to Vandana Gurnani, additional chief secretary of Karnataka Bhavana in Delhi for release of funds. Ekroop Kaur was recently transferred to ITBT department as secretary.
In her letter, Kaur said, “We are reaching the second trimester of the state financial year. As the funds are not yet released, the implementation of schemes is withheld. She has also sent a list of the schemes which are suffering due to non-release of funds.
The departments which have not received the funds this fiscal are agriculture, cooperative, forest, health, housing, revenue, small irrigation, home, rural development and panchayat raj, scheduled caste, tribe welfare, urban development, women and child welfare department.
Some departments have already sent the proposals requesting release of funds. This is a continuous process and the necessary steps are taken as per department sources.
