Mangalore, Aug 11: “A mother who breastfeeds her child need not worry about suffering from breast cancer,” said Dr Vishweshara B K, medical officer of Peruvai.

He was speaking at the ‘World Breast Feeding Week’ event and ‘Healthy Children’ contest organized at Vamanapadau Shree Ganesh Mandir. About 150 mothers and their children participated.

“Perfection of motherhood can be achieved through breast feeding. Breast milk also boosts immunity among children besides increasing memory power. Jaws of children will be strong and they will have strong teeth. Since breast milk is easy to digest the children will be healthy,” he said and added that the mother should breastfeed her child within one hour of birth.
