Udupi, Aug 10: In view of the fact that widening work on highway No. 66 is in progress, and also taking into account the damages suffered by certain roads and minor bridges in the town, district deputy commissioner, Dr T M Reju, has issued a notification, ordering diversion of traffic.
At present, the vehicles moving between Udupi and Mangalore have been taking the route of old Kinnimulky road, because of the fact that under pass work is in progress at the Kinnimulky welcome arch. On account of heavy traffic, this road is full of pot holes now, and a minor bridge built of stone slabs has collapsed. In view of this, movement of buses and other heavy vehicles between the welcome arch – old Kinnimulky and Balaipade road has been banned till the completion of the underpass work.
The city and shuttle service buses moving towards Mangalore from the town need to move via K M Marg, Diana Circle, Jodukatte, Kinnimulky Junction, take right turn at the welcome arch, turn left at Nairkere Road near fire brigade on the fourth cross road and reach national highway 66.
Express, shuttle, and city buses coming from Mangalore direction should move via Ambalpady Junction, Brahmagiri, Jodukatte, taluk office and K M Marg, to reach the bus stand.
Express buses moving towards Mangalore should move via Tourist Hotel, Sanskrit College Junction, Hanuman Circle, K M Marg, Diana Circle, taluk office, Jodukatte, Ajjarkad, Brahmagiri Junction, and reach the national highway at Ambalpady.
Express buses going towards Kundapur from the town should take Tourist Hotel – Mosque Junction – K M Marg – Diana Circle, taluk office – Jodukatte – Ajjarkad – Brahmagiri – and Ambalpady before moving on the national highway.
Express buses coming in from the direction of Kundapur should turn left at Karavali Junction, and move on Bannanje, Shiribeedu Junction, city bus stand, and Airodikar Junction route, before entering service bus stand. The KSRTC buses coming from Kundapur direction should take left at Ambalpady Junction and move via Brahmagiri, Jodukatte and Diana Circle. KSRTC buses going towards Kundapur should move via Kediyoor Hotel, Shiribeedu Junction, Bannaje and reach national highway at Karavali Junction, the notification stipulates.
