Puttur, Aug 26: The murder case of Gowri, who was brutally killed by accused Padmaraj near the women’s police station in the city on Thursday afternoon, has got more twists and turns.
Padmaraj was produced in court on Friday. He was sent to judicial custody.
During interrogation, it was confirmed that Gowri knew Padmaraj since many years and he killed her as she neglected his love for her.
Gowri, who was studying in ninth grade in a school in Vittal, got acquainted with Padmaraj. Their interaction turned into love. However, later they had some differences and Gowri filed a complaint against Padmaraj in Vittal police station. Police called both Gowri and Padmaraj to the police station and took an undertaking that they will not interact with each other in future. However, it has come to light during interrogation that they used to speak even after the police warning.
It is said that the mobile phone, which Padmaraj snatched from Gowri was gifted by him to her earlier. Padmaraj was distraught over the fact that Gowri was in relation with another youth. Over the same reason, Padmaraj came to the fancy shop near Puttur bus stand where Gowri used to work and snatched the mobile phone from her.
Gowri had completed her PU and joined work in the fancy shop just three weeks ago. According to the information available, she had told that she was going home and left the shop in the afternoon on Thursday. The shop owner said that she had taken her salary of three weeks at around 12.30 pm on Thursday and said that she will not come to work in his shop anymore.
The whole city is shocked over the fact that the crime took place just eight feet away from the police station. There are three police stations nearby. It is said that Padmaraj threatened people who tried to intervene while he was attacking Gowri.
Padmaraj arrived at the fancy shop first on the bike which he took from one of his colleagues. Police have also confiscated the CCTV footage of the fancy shop where Gowri worked as evidence for the fight he had with Gowri in the shop.
