Bantwal, Aug 8: Photographers from across the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts took a day off from their hectic daily duties to participate in a day long sports meet here on Sunday August 7. The district-level Photographers' Annual Sports Meet was held under the aegis of South Kanara Photographers’ Association (SKPA).
A big number of photographers who arrived from across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts enthusiastically participated in many rural games including volleyball.
Earlier, Bantwal circle inspector-designate Vivekanand inaugurated the procession with sports torches which began from B C Road Polali welcome arch. The procession was accompanied with traditional music that attracted the general public.
MLA Ramanath Rai inaugurated the sports meet held in the silted field located on the by-pass road.
Association district president Shivaram Kadaba presided over the programme.
Town councillor Dinesh Bhandary, state Association president Sasidar, vice-president Ashok Kumar Shetty, Kerala Photographers’ Association president K C Abraham, SKPA secretary Jagdish Jain, district advisory Committee president Vittal Chowta, district vice-presidents Vasudev R Udupi and Harish Rao Bantwal, treasurer Damodar, sports secretary Navin Puttur, and Bantwal zonal president Satish Kartik were present on the dais.
H K Nayanad and Dinesh Amin compered the programme.
