Mangaluru: JKSHIM, Nitte to celebrate silver jubilee on Aug 20

Mangaluru, Aug 19: Justice K S Hegde Institute of Management (JKSHIM) Nitte was established in the year 1998 by the Nitte Education Trust. The institute is named after the ate Justice K S Hegde, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India and the former speaker of Lok Sabha and the founder of the Nitte Education Trust. At present, the JKSHIM is a constituent unit of Nitte A+ Grade (Deemed to be University). The Nitte Group runs 43 institutions offering courses to students in sprawling campuses at Nitte, Mangaluru and Bengaluru.

N Vinaya Hegde, the Chancellor of the Nitte (Deemed to be University) is also the president of the Nitte Education Trust. The institute has an intake of 180 students. The institute offers two-year full-time MBA and doctoral programme. The institute is ACBSP (USA) accredited along with NAAC ‘A’ Grade and NBA.

The faculty members are endowed with rich academic and industrial experience. Many of them are corporate trainers and they regularly conduct in-house and company-specific EDPs and MDPs. In order to move with the times, the JKSHIM is equipped with the state-of-art Bloomberg Lab. The Atal Incubation Centre (AIC Nitte) supports with the project guidance, opportunities for start-up ventures and conducts training and incubation programmes for our students. The Institute publishes the bi-annual, the Nitte Management Review (NMR), a research journal with high impact research papers. Since its inception in 1998, the institute has been committed to inculcate concepts, techniques and skills among MBAs and to turn out meaningful business assets with human values and ethics.

The institute is housed with the ‘K Ullas Kamath Centre for Family Business’, which conducts entrepreneurship training and mentoring programmes to the second and third generation entrepreneurs on regular basis. Faculty members and students are exposed to these useful training sessions. The institute has faculty guided associations to train the students and to make them corporate ready. This year, the recruitment has even seen the engagement of 56 companies, among them notable corporations that organised placements are RSM, KPMG, Global Wipfly, Grant Thortan, Tech Mahindra, Zomato, Volvo etc. They have 79.37% placement this year.

‘Rajathaarush’, the JKSHIM silver jubilee alumni meet

As a part of the silver jubilee celebration of the Institute, the JKSHIM alumni meet will be organised on Sunday, August, 20 at 9:45 AM in the institute auditorium. Prof (Dr) M S Moodithaya, vice-chancellor, Nitte (Deemed to be University) and the founder director of the institute will light the lamp and preside over the function. There will be addresses by Prof K Ramesh Karnik and Dr K Sankaran, the former directors of the institute. Dr Gururaj H Kidiyoor, the present director will also address the alumni meet. This will be followed by quiz and games to the alumni along with campus tour and interaction with faculty members and staff. The Institute has nearly 3000 alumni members.

Silver jubilee lecture

Prof (Dr) Debashis Chatterjee, director, IIM Kozhikode, will be the chief guest and will deliver the silver jubilee lecture at 4PM on August 20. He will be speaking about ‘Leadership Challenges in the Present Context’. Ashok Pamidi, former CEO, NASCOM, India, will be the guest of honour. Prof (Dr) M Shantharam Shetty, pro-chancellor (Hospital Management), Nitte (Deemed to be University), Prof (Dr) Harsha Halahalli, registrar, Nitte (Deemed to be University), Dr Niranjan N Chiplunkar, principal, NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte, will be present on the occasion. N Vinaya Hegde, chancellor, Nitte (Deemed to be University) and the president, Nitte Education Trust will preside over the function. There will be a felicitation to the former faculty members and staff, followed by a cultural programme.
