Mangaluru: Ladyhill Victoria PU College stirs in patriotic emotions

Mangaluru, Aug 18: With the spirit of freedom, Ladyhill Victoria PU College organised the flag hoisting ceremony in the college campus on August 15.

Jayaram Karandoor, vice president of Parent Teacher Association unfurled the flag and Sr Violet Tauro, joint secretary of Ladyhill Victoria institutions presided over the programme.

The cultural programme on the occasion of 77th Independence Day was held with great enthusiasm by the student council members and students in the PU auditorium.

The celebration began with an invocation from students of I commerce followed by words of welcome from Sinchana, II commerce. The chief guest Malavika D, a legal practitioner by profession emphasised on the significance of the day and various forms of freedom. She also inspired the students to pursue law in future and stressed on the duties of Indians in serving the nation as an advocate and promoting the growth of the country.

A play was enacted by the students which depicted the sacrifice of the country’s freedom heroes. A Welcome dance by I Science showed the heritage and love for the country. Inter-class patriotic singing competition with tricolour themed costumes was a part of the programme. Sana of II Science compered the entire event. Principal Sr Ujwala AC was also present for the occasion.

Maliha of II Science proposed the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with the College Anthem.
