Mangalore, Aug 6: Vishwanath Shetty, who was drugged and robbed while travelling in a bus from Mumbai to Mangalore on Thursday morning, has sufficiently recovered to explain things. He returned to his senses after about 24 hours of being drugged.
Shetty said he has lost about Rs 1.5 lac worth of things including Rs 35,000 in cash kept in the pants pocket, a gold chain, gold ring, and a bag kept under the seat which had clothes, bank pass book, ATM card, new mobile set, etc. He recollected that a person, who was conversing in Hindi, had boarded the bus some time after he himself came in at Malad.
“The person, who introduced himself as Roshan, used to smoke cigarettes. He said he was bound for Mangalore for reaching Kozhikode in Kerala to work there as computer teacher. Roshan offered me cream biscuits twice or thrice before reaching Bhatkal, but nothing had happened. On Thursday morning, when the bus stopped at Bhatkal, he gave me a cream biscuit at around 7 am after I had tea and boarded the bus again. I felt some disturbances in my stomach then, before falling fast asleep. I regained my sense only on Friday morning. I guess that he robbed me of my belongings,” Shetty added.
The hospital authorities, who have conducted tests on Shetty’s blood samples, have not yet been able to conclude the exact reason for Shetty’s condition or the nature of drug administered to him.
Vishwanath Shetty, who works as cashier in a Mumbai hotel owned by his relatives since the last 12 years, was coming home to take part in Nagara Panchami celebrations on Thursday, when he was robbed.
