Mangalore, Aug 6: On Friday August 5, the muhurat for a new Kannada movie, ‘Manase Matadu’, was held at Sharavu Lord Ganapati Temple here. This will be the first film to be produced by veteran Kannada movie and small screen actor, Bank Janardhan. Janardhan has roped in his friend, T N Venkatesh, to produce the film jointly with him.
Janardhan said that the lifeline of his movie will be its unique storyline. He said in spite of knowing fully well the present critical phase Kannada movies are going through, he has taken a decision to produce a film. “Well-known South Indian star, Suman, will be in the lead role,” he disclosed.
“Vijaya Bank, for which I had worked in the past, has its roots in Mangalore. I have a special place for Dakshina Kannada district in my heart. Our prime aim is to make a good movie. Time alone can tell whether it will succeed or not,” he added. He expected the shooting for the film to be completed in about 40 days, and added that it will have about 40 actors, and that its total budget may exceed one crore rupees.
G K Purushottam will direct the movie. P L Ravi, cinematographer, had earlier worked for several movies including Tulu film, ‘Oriyardori Asal’. He expressed the desire to shoot most of the sequences under natural lights, and some scenes in natural rain. The director of the film agreed with Janardhan that the story of the movie is quite different, and hoped that this movie will prove to be a path breaking feat in Kannada filmdom. He said that the shooting will be undertaken in Chikmagalur, Hassan, and Kodagu districts.
