Mangaluru: Carmel School celebrates Independence Day

Mangaluru, Aug 16: The Carmel School fraternity gathered with great ardour and enthusiasm under the early morning scorching heat, to rejoice in the glory of the nation’s achievements and paid tribute to those who fought for the freedom on August 15 on the school ground.

The dignitaries Sr Smitha AC, joint secretary of St Ann’s Campus Institutions, Rajesh – ex-serviceman and currently the manager of Canara Bank Farangipet, Dr Se Prem D’Souza - the administrator, Sister Premal – the vice principal were accorded a standing ovation as they were being welcomed by the school band under the able guidance of Sunil Kumar.

 

The event commenced with a prayer song by the Carmel choir that was powerful, stirring exhortation for glorifying God. The congregation witnessed a timeless tradition that filled the hearts with pride - the flag hoisting ceremony by the chief guest, along with the other dignitaries on the dais that served as a symbol of freedom and unity. The dignitaries were invited to inspect the march past troupes followed by an eye-catching and well-coordinated march-past, accompanied by a lively Carmel brass band that shook the ground. The march past by 6 teams-Scouts, Guides, Blue Bells, Green Gardenia, Yellow Cress, Red Rose was judged by Marina, Lara and Nisha.

The tiny tots of LKG and UKG briefed the significance of the day followed by a patriotic dance and tribal dances from Rajasthan, Odisha and Himachal Pradesh by Yuva Club reminding about the rich cultural diversity and the strong bond that unites all as a nation. The champions who excelled in the domain of co-curricular activities were honoured by the dignitaries and Deepthi made known to the audience the names of the winners. Rajesh, the chief guest in his address, motivated every student to work with truthfulness and dedication so that the nation soars to enormous heights. Sr Premal - the vice principal announced the results of the march past contest. Carmel students presented a colourful cultural programme on patriotic themes of unity at Kudmul Ranga Rao Town Hall that was deeply appreciated by Mullai Muhilan MP - deputy commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada (DK).

Huda and Sahitya compered the programme. Arwa welcomed the gathering and Nida proposed the vote of thanks.
