Mangaluru: Independence Day celebration held at Loretto English Medium High School

Mangaluru, Aug 15: Independence Day was celebrated with pomp and glory at the Loretto English Medium High School ground in collaboration with the Kannada medium school.

The dignitaries were escorted to the dais by the school principal accompanied by the school band. The chief guest Dr Praveen Leo Lasrado, the designated secretary for the CBE hoisted the flag and gave the message saying that freedom should be felt in the day-to-day life and not only in words.

In his presidential address, the correspondent of the school, Fr Francis Crasta said freedom should be felt in every human. Highlighting the situations that are happening in the nation, he expressed pain over the sufferings of the people and the struggle to find real freedom.

Students of both the schools presented the cultural programme that mesmerised the audiences and received applause. Slogans were raised and the children replied in a loud voice with enthusiasm and felt the vibes of the celebration.

Fr Jason Monis, principal, Sr Idoline Rodrigues, headmistress, Cyprian D'Souza, vice-president of parish council, Sachin Noronha, PTA vice-president, Preethi Acharya, head girl, Shaila Barboza, secretary, Parish Council, members of the management committee, parents and the parishioners were present for the flag hoisting ceremony.

Jacintha compered the programme. Vinitha D'Souza welcomed the gathering and Prameela Menezes proposed a vote of thanks.
