Mangaluru: Patriotism resonates at St Agnes High School

Mangaluru, Aug 15: The 77th Independence Day was celebrated at St Agnes High School on August 15.

The PTA vice president Gracy Shaji hoisted the tri-colour in the school ground. The students and along with the PTA executive committee members saluted mother India by singing the national anthem. Vande Mataram was also sung with pride and patriotism. The cultural programme was conducted by class IX B in the school hall.

The symbolic prayer service depicting the story of four candles created a sacred and reflective atmosphere. Fathima Simra welcomed the gathering. Skilful classical dancers welcomed the audience with a well-choreographed dance.The performance demonstrated seamless movement and expressions which mesmerized the audience. Thanusha shared the historical importance of Independence Day.

The post-independent accomplishments of India were clearly delineated with the PowerPoint presentation by the students. A captivating skit titled ‘Sapnon Ka Bharat’ depicting the challenges faced by India was well explained. The role of responsible citizens in the development of the country was also highlighted in the skit. In a barnstorming dance performance, the students glorified the history, culture and tradition of our motherland.

The chief guest Gowramma recalled the sacrifice of the freedom fighters and called the students to work for a strong, powerful and better India. A group of students sang the tri-colour flag song which not only filled the atmosphere with patriotism but also reminded everyone of the unity and diversity that our national flag represents. Headmistress Sr Gloria AC congratulated the students for the excellent performance. 

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mansi.  Raniya and Pallavi compered the whole programme. The Independence Day programme was conducted under the guidance of the class teacher Preethi .The PTA executive committee members were present for the programme.
