MIT, FIS Global Business Solutions collaborate to launch Cutting-Edge B Tech programme

Manipal, Aug 14: Today marks a momentous occasion as Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), a constituent unit of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), and FIS Global Business Solutions India Private Limited, a subsidiary of FIS, a global leader in financial services technology headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, USA as they join hands in a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony held at Manipal.

Commander (Dr) Anil Rana, director, Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal, in his opening address, emphasized, "In response to the burgeoning demand for tech-savvy professionals with expertise in digital technology and finance, MIT Manipal proudly presents a groundbreaking four-year undergraduate degree program - B Tech. in Computer Science and Financial Technology. The collaborative efforts of the Department of Humanities and Management, the Department of Computer Science Engineering, and the Department of Mathematics have meticulously designed the program's curriculum, incorporating inputs from key stakeholders, including prominent industrial professionals and academicians. The primary aim is to enhance graduates' employability and equip them with the skills necessary to thrive in the dynamic realm of cutting-edge computer technology within the finance domain. Remarkably, this program has received the esteemed approval of the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), making it the first and only one of its kind in India today."

Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, vice chancellor, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, stated, "The interdisciplinary B.Tech. in Computer Science and Financial Technology program is designed to foster students' comprehensive understanding of contemporary technology, robust mathematical and financial acumen, and innovative thinking, all while instilling strong ethical values. The curriculum includes exposure to the latest trends in Computational Statistics and Mathematics, Software Development Models, Economics and Econometric Models, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, and Trading."

The Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal was established in 1957 as one of the first self-financing engineering colleges in the country. In 2000, it became a constituent institute of the deemed university - Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), which is known today as Manipal Academy of Higher Education

MIT offers a bachelor’s and master’s program in engineering streams. It also gives students the option to carry out full-time or part-time research. The minimum duration for postgraduate qualified PhD students is three years for full time, and four years for part-time. There is a one year relaxation for applicants with an MPhil degree

The institute undertakes sponsored research programmes supported by funding agencies such as DST, CSIR, AICTE and the Ministry of Environmental Sciences. It has collaborative research programs in association with premier research laboratories and institutes in India and abroad.
