Bantwal, Aug 5: Macchendranat Pandeshwar, veteran dramatist and Sandalwood actor was selected for the ‘Tulunada Tulushree Award’ by Akshara Pratistan, Aladapadav, near here, informed Pratistan chairman Dr Ramakrishna S and director Ratnadev Punjalkatte.
About Macchendranat:
Seventy-seven-year-old Macchendranat began his stage career when he was 14-years-old. He is the playwright of over 160 dramas. Being a versatile actor and director, he set up a touring drama troupe and fostered hundreds of artistes. He has staged many plays successfully across the state.
Macchendranat has bagged the district Rajyotsav Award, Karnataka Nataka Academy Award, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy Award, Samskara Bharati Award, Namma Kudla Award, and Brahmashree Award amongst others. He has been actively involved in Tulukoota, Tulu dramatists’ Association, and other social welfare and voluntary organizations.
The Award will be conferred during a function scheduled to be held at Rayee Higher Primary School, near here, on Sunday August 7 at 3 pm.
Dakshina Kannada district Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura will confer the award.
Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy member Sarapady Ashok Shetty will preside over the programme.
Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) project officer Dayavati S, Siddakatte zonal president Jagdish Koila, and TP member Prem Sequeira will be the chief guests on the occasion.
