Mangaluru: SJEC AICTE IDEA Lab successfully holds third 'Life skills workshop series-2023'

Mangaluru, Aug 9: The SJEC successfully organized its third workshop of the 'Life skills workshop series – 2023' titled 'Basic Life Support for Adult and Child' on August 4 at Fr Fred Hall. The programme began with a brief introduction of the domain expert, Dr Ritesh Joseph D’Cunha, assistant professor, department of anesthesiology, coordinator, Father Muller Simulation and Skill Centre, and Dr Shannon Fernandes. associate professor, department of obstetrics and gynecology. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, director, SJEC, Dr Purushothama Chippar, vice principal and dean R&D and Dr Prakash Pinto, Dean-MBA were present on this occasion. The resource persons then explained to the students the steps to be followed during emergency situations of cardiac attacks for adults and children respectively.

A total of 50 participants were present which included both staff and students. At the end of the programme, every participant was given the opportunity to demonstrate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), which is an emergency procedure that can help save a person’s life if their breathing or heart stops, on the CPR training manikins.

At the end of the session, participants shared their experience and valuable feedback regarding the workshop and appreciated the efforts put by the institution in coming up with these useful life skills initiative for the students at SJEC. The domain experts were felicitated with mementos as token of gratitude for sharing their knowledge to the students. The workshop witnessed the active participation of few teaching staffs and technical staffs of SJEC AICTE IDEA lab.
