Bangalore, Aug 4: Soon after being elected the BJP legislative leader of Karnataka assembly, D V Sadananda Gowda was branded as a 'Puppet' and a 'Rubber-stamp' CM for his close association with and purported influence of outgoing chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.
On Thursday morning, speaking exclusively to Daijiworld.com over the phone, he rubbished media reports that he was a rubber-stamp CM. "I am not a rubber-stamp CM as reported by certain sections of the electronic media. I have been elected by the members of the state assembly, and not nominated by anyone. My job is to carry forward the good job done by Yeddyurappaji. He is a senior leader, and indeed I need his blessings and support."
Soon after Gowda was elected the new CM of the state, media carried reports that Gowda's election was a victory for the Yeddyurappa camp, as Yeddyurappa had put severe pressure on the high command to choose Gowda as his successor. Earlier, reports claimed that Yeddyurappa had vowed to come back within six months as CM, and that Gowda was just a makeshift arrangement for Yeddyurappa.
DVS who is set to take oath as chief minister on Thursday, received the first jolt when some of the MLAs belonging to the Ananth Kumar camp openly announced that they would boycott the oathtaking ceremony. If that happens, it could well be the beginning of a turbulent journey for DVS.
