Mangaluru: Graduation ceremony of post graduate diploma held at St Agnes College

Mangaluru, Jul 30: The graduation ceremony of the 11th batch and the Initiation of the 12th batch of post graduate diploma in guidance and counseling at St Agnes College was held on the July 28.

Ln Dr Melvyn D'Souza, adjunct professor at St Joseph Engineering College, deputy governor Lions District 317D was the chief guest. The programme commenced with the invocation of blessings from the Almighty, followed by the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest and the dignitaries present on the occasion.

Sandra Prince welcomed the gathering. A brief report about the PGDGC programme was presented by Veena Bharnas, the alumni president PGDGC. Lolita from the 11th batch, The catalysts shared her experievnce about the course.

Certificates were awarded to the graduates by the chief guest, Ln Dr Melvyn D'Souza, following which he addressed the gathering, delivering the message, "Counselling is not about giving advise but about lending a patient hearing." He concluded by wishing the graduates well and by encouraging the students of the new batch. He stressed on the fact that learning never ends but is an ongoing process.

Sr Dr Venora AC. the coordinator of Post Graduate studies at St Agnes College who was present on the occasion, addressed the gathering as well. She stressed on the importance of counsellors in the present times when both the young and the old are victims of stress, anxiety and depression.

Lugina Miranda, the course coordinator administered the oath to the students of the 12th batch, 'The Elements.'

The ceremony culminated with a vote of thanks delivered by Mehnas Tonse.

Sanjana Kamath and Kalpana Bhat compered the programme. Resource persons, Dr Meena Lobo, Denis Rodrigues and Precilla D'Silva were present on the occasion.
