Mangaluru, Jul 22: The ministry of tourism, as part of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' initiative, has launched 'The Yuva Tourism Club' for all CBSE-affiliated schools. Manipal School, Mangaluru, known for its innovative initiatives, proudly inaugurated the Yuva Tourism Club on July 18. The esteemed event was graced by Vathika Pai, a prominent figure in the tourism industry, proprietor of 'Nirmala Travels' in Mangaluru.
In her inaugural address, Vathika Pai urged the students to consider a career in tourism, emphasizing its status as a thriving industry. She highlighted that Karnataka, particularly Mysuru and Hampi, possesses popular tourism hotspots. However, she pointed out that there are hidden gems in Karnataka waiting to be explored, including the undiscovered treasures in Mangaluru. Pai expressed her belief that by enturing into the tourism industry, students could contribute to the local economy in and around Mangaluru. She specifically mentioned the picturesque blue flag beach at Tannirbhavi, the evergreen Western Ghats surrounding Mangaluru, and the region's rich cultural heritage as potential attractions to promote tourism.
Furthermore, Anuradha Shivaram, the principal of Manipal School Mangaluru, addressed the gathering and provided insights into the tourism sector. She motivated the students to pursue careers in the tourism industry and announced a planned visit to a historical site in celebration of Independence Day for the club members. She emphasized that students should not only visit places but also actively strive to promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage of India.
Kedar H Raj, grade 11 student and the president of the Yuva Tourism Club, shared the club's vision of nurturing and developing young ambassadors of Indian tourism. He outlined the goal of promoting the cultural heritage of India through thoughts, words and actions, with a particular focus on sustainable development.
To accomplish this vision, Kedar proposed organizing career guidance programs in tourism, heritage site visits, nature walks, and various other engaging activities. Asha Shetty, teacher coordinator for the Yuva Tourism Club, along with Srilatha Alva, high school coordinator, Mallika Hareesh, high school teacher and executive members of the club, Laasya Achar and Pratham J Vasani were present at the inauguration event. Siya Abriana Setin, the secretary of the club, delivered the vote of thanks. Laasya Achar, compered the programme.
The Yuva Tourism Club at Manipal School, Mangaluru, aims to ignite a passion for tourism among the youth and inspire them to become proud ambassadors of India's cultural heritage. The club will actively engage in activities that foster sustainable development and contribute to the growth of the tourism industry.
