Mangaluru, Jul 17: The students of Class 10B at St Agnes High School came together to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel July 15 at 11 am. The occasion also marked the bicentennial birth anniversary of the venerable Mother Veronica of the Passion, founder of the Apostolic Carmel Institution. Additionally, the school took the opportunity to honour retired teachers on the same day.
The celebration commenced with a prayer service that focused on the virtues of the Blessed Virgin Mary, creating a reflective and spiritually enriching atmosphere. The energetic semi-classical welcome dance set the tone for the day's festivities, capturing the camaraderie among the students.
One of the highlights of the event was a skit that conveyed the importance of values in life, particularly targeted towards teenagers. The students creatively showcased the significance of ethics through a fashion show. The fusion dance performance captivated the audience by seamlessly blending classical and hip-hop styles.
The celebration also featured the Miracle of the Scapular, an essential aspect of devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Through a touching performance, the students depicted the miraculous intervention attributed to the scapular, bringing to life the story of Simon Stock and the spiritual protection associated with it.
On the same day, Dr Sr Maria Roopa AC, the joint secretary of St Agnes Institutions, felicitated the retired teachers who had devoted their careers to educating generations. The teachers were honoured with shawls, mementos, flowers, and fruit. Juliana Fernandes shared a few words, reflecting on her teaching experience. The chief guest highlighted the contributions of Mother Veronica, the founder of the Apostolic Carmel.
