Mangaluru, Jul 17: St Agnes CBSE School in Bendoor recently celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel as a way to honour the loving guidance, care, and protection of Mother Mary. The event took place on July 15 and featured a solemn Eucharistic celebration held at St Sebastian Church in Bendoor. The ceremony was attended by all Catholic students and members of the teaching fraternity. Fr John Pinto served as the main celebrant and delivered a compelling sermon.
To mark the occasion, a special programme was organized, which began with a beautiful and heartfelt prayer song. The devotional prayer song and dance depicted the symbolic representation of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, including the cross, stars, lily, crown palm, and other significant elements. The students also presented a graceful welcome dance and performed a short skit emphasizing the importance of the scapular and values such as humility, prayer, and obedience in one's life. A delightful dance performance followed the skit.
The chief guest of the event was Sr Dr M Shalini AC, who has dedicated 24 years of her service as a lecturer, professor, and HOD of political science at St Agnes College. Sr D. Shalini delivered an inspiring speech, commending the students for their meaningful program and encouraging them to devote their time to prayer and fulfilling God's will. She also urged the students to show care and respect towards the natural environment and all living beings.
During the event, the participants of the spell bee handwriting competition were honored. The esteemed guests included the principal, Sr Maria Sarika AC, the vice principal, Sr Lenita Lobo AC, the coordinator of St Agnes Preparatory School, Sr Letitia AC, as well as other faculty members and students.
The programme was hosted by Vivel Serrao, while Neoma Fernandes welcomed the gathering, and Reviya Consesso expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the event.
Additionally, St Agnes CBSE School, under the aegis of Carmel Blossom, organized a get-together programme for its members on the occasion of the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. All the children actively participated in the activities arranged by the school.
