Mangaluru, Jul 15: Srinivas University held an inaugural programme of Fusion Collective on July 14 at Srinivas University Mukka Campus.
The chief guest of the programme media choreographer Kaushik Suvarna said, Students are getting opportunities to explore and should use them to find themselves.
All India Radio Mangaluru programme executive Suryanarayana Bhat said, "Today, children are increasingly forgetting how to communicate verbally due to their excessive reliance on technology. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, they have been attending online classes and subsequently engaging in remote work, leading them to become completely absorbed in technology and neglect other essential activities. Consequently, they are experiencing various health issues, including both physical ailments and mental health disorders, which is truly disheartening."
Prof Mitra S Rao, a trustee member of the Srinivas University board of governors said, "While acknowledging the benefits of technology, it is crucial that we maintain an open mind towards exploring and developing various talents beyond its realm. Embracing diverse skills and interests is a vital step towards unlocking the hidden potential within ourselves and fostering personal growth."
Dr A Srinivas Rao, pro-chancellor of Srinivas University said, "In recent times, the mental resilience of children has significantly decreased, and parents often play a significant role in this decline. The high expectations set by parents can lead to a loss of hope and result in stress and depression among students. Therefore, it is crucial for parents to actively foster and support their children's talents, ultimately contributing to their overall happiness and well-being."
Dr A Raghavendra Rao, chancellor of Srinivas University said in his presidential address, "Recognizing and supporting talents is essential as it allows students to discover their true selves through engagement in various cultural activities. To cultivate confident communication skills, public speaking should be incorporated into the curriculum. Encouraging students' talents is imperative, as it promotes their personal growth and development."
Srinivas University registrar Dr Anil Kumar, SUIET dean Dr Thomas Pinto were present. SUIET associate dean Dr Netravathi P S welcomed the gathering. Prof Shwetha Pai gave the vote of thanks.
