Udupi, Jul 11: The Manipal Centre for Interprofessional Advanced Wound Care of Manipal College of Nursing (MCON), MAHE, Manipal, successfully conducted a two-day hands-on workshop on the July 5 and 6 The workshop brought together MBBS and Nursing graduates and staff nurses to enhance their skills in advanced wound care in collaboration with Coloplast India.
Dr N C Sreekumar, professor and head, Department of Plastic Surgery, KMC Manipal, the chief guest, said the health professionals must work together for single-factor success in quality care. He said a nurse must lead the team when it comes to wound management as they truly care for the patient 24x7. He also added that students must be motivated to learn the art of changing paradigms in wound care and stay updated and practice constantly to stay competent. Dr Judith A Noronha, dean, MCON, welcomed the impressive gathering and enthused the students with the growing opportunities globally as wound managers. She emphasised students’ vision to be good healthcare professionals through quality training and utilise the center’s facilities to stay attuned.
Dr Elsa Sanatombi Devi, coordinator of the center, narrated the growth of the center from its teething phase to its toddler phase and dreams big. The center in future looks up to external agencies’ accreditation so that MBBS and nursing graduates would go out into the world of health care practice as wound managers. Besides the skills learned, one must learn the art of working together in a team, which is a vital parameter for success.
This workshop served as a platform for healthcare professionals to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and develop a collaborative approach to optimise patient outcomes.
