Question of Resigning does not Arise : Yeddyurappa

New Delhi, July 27 (IANS) Beleaguered Karnataka Chief Minister B.S.Yeddyurappa, indicted by the state Lokayukta for involvement in illegal mining, arrived in New Delhi Wednesday night to meet senior leaders of his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) but asserted he would not resign.

"The question of resigning does not arise," Yeddyurappa, the BJP's first chief minister in south India, told media persons after his arrival.

Yeddyurappa, who is accompanied by several ministers and state party chief K. S. Eshwarappa, said: "I will explain everything to my party seniors."

He said he was going to party president Nitin Gadkari's house to discuss the issue and would return to Bangalore Thursday. Party leaders Arun Jaitley and Rajnath Singh are also expected to be present at the meeting at Gadkari's house.

Karnataka ombudsman N. Santosh Hegde Wednesday recommended the prosecution of Yeddyurappa for multi-crore illegal mining in the state along with four ministers and others.

Before leaving for Delhi, Yeddyurappa said the report "needs detailed study".

"Also most of the cases referred to by the Lokayukta are old. Some of these cases are in Supreme Court and some in high court," he told reporters at Bangalore airport.

He also said the state cabinet will meet in Bangalore Thursday to discuss the report.

The 25,228-page report seeks trial of Yeddyurappa and his four ministers, among others over illegal mining in the state.

    NEW DELHI: BJP has decided to B S Yeddyurappa as chief minister of Karnataka as the price for stepped up campaign against Congress on the issue of corruption.

    The decision, to be conveyed to Yeddyurappa after his arrival late on Wednesday night from Bangalore, was formalized soon after the party brass discussed the CM's indictment by Lokayukta Santosh Hegde. The decision will be announced on Thursday after the party's core group meets.

    These people did same crime like Telagi, Afsal guru,Kasab, and Veerappan.so all should be go to jail as soon as posible.

    Just follow the law and if he is wrong punish him and resigning, retiring is not good enough. Nobody is above the law.

    What arrogance and self confidence!
    The question is not actually whether he should resign or not but where he should be lodged! In Tihar jail with other congress and DMK stalwarts?
