Bengaluru, Jul 5: The department of language and literature, Alliance School of Liberal Arts in collaboration with Central Institute of Indian Languages organised a two-day national seminar on the theme 'Vocational and Skill Education through the Medium of Indian Languages: Challenges and Opportunities' on June 29- 30 at the Central Campus of Alliance University, Bengaluru.

Renowned scholars of Hindi prof Shishir Pandey, prof Sadanand Bhosale, Dr Pradeep Tripathi - prof S V S Narayana Raju, Dr C Jayashankar Babu, Dr Vivekanand Tiwari and Kannada scholars Dr  T D Rajanna, Dr M S Durga Praveen, Dr T H Lavakumar, Telugu Scholar prof. N AD Pal and Tamil Scholar Dr L Ramamoorthy, Malayalam thinker prof Ajeesh Thomas and academicians, literature lovers, researchers and students from various parts of the country participated in the seminar.

Researchers from different parts of the country presented their ideas in Indian languages including Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam. In the inaugural session of the seminar, the dignitaries released the seminar special issue of the peer reviewed quarterly magazine published by the department of language and literature, Alliance University.

Pro -chancellor Abhay G Chebbi, vice chancellor Dr Anubha Singh, Dr Aditya Gupta chief operating officer IIM Bengaluru, Dr Shishir Kumar Pandey, vice-chancellor, JRD University Uttar Pradesh, Dr Pankaj Dwivedi LJRO Central Institute of Indian Languages, Dr Pankaj addressed on the occasion. Dr Anirudh Sridhar Associate dean, Alliance School of Liberal Arts welcomed the guests.

Many ideas of importance on the topic were discussed in the Parallel Sessions held on 'Challenges and Opportunities of Vocational and Skill Education through The Medium of Indian Languages', 'Role of Media, Cinema and Literature in the Development of Vocational and Skill Education', 'Role of Indian Languages in Vocational Education and Importance of Technology', and 'Anonymous folk tales of different states of India and useful information contained in them: in the context of vocational and skill education'.

At the valedictory session held on June 30, Dr Priestley Shan pro- vice-chancellor, Alliance University, Dr Nivedita Mishra registrar, Ratan Kumar vice president, of Business Management HSBC Bengaluru, expressed their views on the theme of the seminar. Dr Pankaj Dwivedi LJRO, Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysuru commented on the sessions of the two-day national seminar.

Dr Liju Kuriakose, the assistant dean, addressed the gathering as a closing note. Dr Anupama Tiwari presented the report of the two-day national seminar. Dr Vivekanand Sajjan thanked the gathering. By opening gateway to many fields through the discussion of diverse research topics the seminar successfully concluded.
