Mangaluru: SJEC organizes three days workshop - INNOVATE

Mangaluru, Jun 27: The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering along with IEEE SJEC Student Branch and IEEE Mangalore Subsection organized a three days’ workshop titled 'Innovate-2023.0: Turn Your Ideas to Reality' from June 12-14 vh for the pre final year students of SJEC. 133 students participated in the workshop. The main objective of the workshop was to provide the participants an insight into ideation that would aid in selecting apt industry/ socially relevant projects, plan its implementation, document the work and also introduce the ethical aspects to be considered.

The workshop commenced with the inauguration at 9:30AM at Kalam Hall. Chief guest for the inauguration was Dr Subramanya Bhat, associate professor from the department of ECE at NMAMIT, Nitte and was presided over by Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, director, SJEC and guests of honour were Fr Kenneth Crasta, assistant director, SJEC, Dr Rio D’Souza, principal, SJEC and Dr Purushothama Chippar, vice principal and dean R&D, SJEC.

Following sessions were conducted in the workshop:

1. Ideation by Dr Subramanya Bhat, associate professor from the Department of ECE at NMAMIT, Nitte
2. Literature Review by Dr Roshan Naik, assistant professor, department of ECE, SJEC
3. Effective Presentation and Documentation by Aldrin Vaz, assistant professor, department of ECE, SJEC
4. Converting Ideas to Block Diagrams by Dr Mohith P Thahiliani, asst professor, department of CSE, NITK Surathkal
5. Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) by Dr Arjun Rao, asst professor, department of ECE, SJEC
6. Plagiarism and Ethical Issues by Jennifer Saldana, asst professor, department of ECE, SJEC
7. Statistical Data Analysis by Dr Dayakshini, professor and HOD-ECE, SJEC
8. Project Management for Academic Projects and Careers by Dr Binu K G, head of Strategy & Planning, SJEC
9. Pitch It Right by Glenson Toney, assistant professor, department of ECE and the Training coordinator, T&P Cell, SJEC
10. Technical Paper Writing by Dr Manjunath K N, associate professor, Dept of CSE. MIT, Manipal.
