Mangaluru: LCS Observes International Day against Drug Abuse

Mangaluru, Jun 26: International Day against drug abuse was observed at Lourdes Central School on Monday, June 26.

A talk on the effects and consequences of drug abuse was organized for the students of classes IX to XII in the AV Room from 8:15 am. to 11:30 am. in three sessions.

The programme began with the prayer song sung by the school choir. Thanvi Bhat, Ravuri Nagasi Sanjana and Sanvi RS welcomed the gathering. Tulasi Hariprasad, Tarun Kamalakshaand Gahnvi S introduced the resource person. The resource person, Lydia Lobo gave an insight on various topics like peer and social pressure, abuse and trauma, self-medication and mental healthillness. She gave a detailed information about commonly used drugs and its ill effects.

At the end of the session, an oath to safe guard against drug abuse was administered. Overall, it was an enriching session which concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Rajiv Shenoy, Charvi Hand Shishir Shetty.

School Assembly was conducted to bring awareness against drug abuse. On this occasion a short video was also played for the students of classes VI to IX.
