Moodbidri: Carmel School holds 'Courtesy Week'

Moodbidri, Jun 12: Carmel School commemorated 'Courtesy Week' from June 12-17 during which the art of politeness, good manners and punctuality was highlighted in interactions between the students.

The students from grade VIII created a brief assembly with the assistance of their teachers.

The programme commenced with a meaningful prayer service invoking blessings from the almighty god followed by thoughts of the day and news headlines. Students of grades VII and VIII welcomed the gathering through their mesmerising welcome dance. Their joy was doubled with the arrival of Sr Maria Gracilda our new principal.

Sr Ranitha, co-ordinator extended a hearty welcome invoking God's manifold blessings on our new principal Sr Maria Gracilda and assured her of our best wishes and cooperation in her new assignment.

Ananya of grade 1A and Jossy Menezes PTA vice president extended a floral welcome on behalf of staff, students and parents to our new principal.

Sr Maria Gracilda AC the principal, Sr Elena AC the administrator, Sr Preena the vice principal, Sr Rosy and Sr Ranitha the coordinators, graced the occasion with their presence.

All the newly appointed teachers and support staff were welcomed by Sr Elena A C.

'Ask with a please and accept with a thanku you', the magic of these words were beautifully enacted by grade III through an action song.

'Good manners will open doors that the best education cannot'. - Justice Clarence Thomas. This quote was implemented by the students of grade VIII through a song. Sr Maria Graciela AC the principal, addressed the students and teachers by welcoming everyone to the new academic year.

She emphasised that each of us is a beloved child of god. The riveting story of Panasonic founder Konosuke Matsushita was beautifully showcased through a video presentation which communicated a message that 'Success does not depend on one's education or money, we need to believe in ourselves'.

She encouraged the children and reiterated the importance of being punctual to school and the school work was given through a formula 'I will do my best and I will be the best'. Good wishes and the encouraging message was given to the students of grade X to focus on their studies and to aim higher for their academic excellency. She concluded her address by asking the students to imbibe all the courtesy values that they have learnt during the week.

The programme was compered by Disha Sanil. A vote of thanks was delivered by Avni Kini. The significance of the day was expressed by Clarissa D'Costa.
