Mangaluru, Jun 22: World Music Day was celebrated in Lourdes Central School on June 22. Mohammed Iqbalthe singer of International fame was the chief guest for the function. Evana D'Souza of class VIII welcomed the gathering. Fr Robert D'Souza, principal, vice principals Belita Mascarenhas, Anitha Thomas and Fr Arul Joseph were present for the celebration.
The programme started with a prayer song. Ania Mascarenhas, Nathan Rodrigues, Nishal D'Souza and Viona Pinto of class VIII read out the intentions for the day. Thea Lobo of class VIII explained the thought for the day and Dia Rodrigues of Class IX briefed on the significance of the day.
Mohammed Iqbal was honoured on the occasion with a shawl, memento and bouquet of flowers. In his message to the students he explained about the importance of music which students have to learn and achieve success. He also said about the uses of Music and how we can be happy with Music. He sang a popular hindi song Papa khaete hai and mesmerized the students.
Megan Macwan, Manuela Chacko, Vamshitha Shetty of class X, Dia Rodrigues of calss IX sang a melodious song and Ashton Fernandes, TanviBhat, Joshua of Class XII, Jaydon Baptist of class VIII presented a instrumental music which was highly appreciated by the audience.
The principal Fr Robert D'Souza in his speech thanked chief guest who is also the parent of Lourdites for his presence and asked the students to be happy on the world Music Day. On the occasion of world music day school music books were launched written by our music teacher Roshan Cordiero. Birthday children were greeted. The programme concluded with vote of thanks and school anthem. The programme was compered by Evana D'Souza of class VIII under the guidance of music teachers Ivan Mascarenhas and Roshan Cordiero.
