Mangaluru: International Yoga Day celebrated at St Aloysius College

Mangaluru, Jun 22: The 9th International Yoga Day was celebrated on June 21 at St Aloysius College (Autonomous). Delampadi Yoga Foundation, Ayush Yoga, NewsKarnataka and Decathlon in collaboration with the Student Activity Cell of the college, physical education department, NCC, NSS, Youth Red Cross and students of yoga team organized this event together.

Programme coordinator and dean of student activities cell, Dr Ishwara Bhat welcomed the gathering and introduced the importance of International Yoga Day. He stressed everyone to practice Yoga and build a better society. Director of AIMIT Beeri Campus, Dr Melwyn S Pinto inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.

 

In his presidential speech, he spoke on yoga and explained how yoga became infused with Indian culture. He also said that yoga can give good mind and health to everyone. All the students were encouraged to practice yoga into their daily activities and achieve greatness in life through good health. The director of Admin Block, Dr Charles Furtado expressed his appreciation for the programme and extended his greetings. Pratima and staff from NewsKarnataka Media were present. Two representatives of Decathlon organization participated in the programme. Students, staff and faculty members of the college also participated in this programme.

The yoga director of Delampadi Yoga Foundation, Neeta Shetty guided everyone in performing different Yogasanas. Arun M D'Souza, director of physical education of the college proposed the vote of thanks.
