Media Release

Mangaluru, Jun 20: To create awareness regarding the importance of millets, the Carmel School, Bolar, Mangaluru, celebrated the International Year of Millets 2023, by conducting various activities for the students of grades I to V.

The students were involved in activities such as slogan writing and poster making which were digitally organised. The activities were based on a wide variety of health-related topics such as a balanced diet, dwarfism, malnutrition, anaemia, etc. The students expressed their creative ideas on the topic ‘Myths related to healthy nutrition' with great enthusiasm and zeal.

The initiative hopes to promote sustainable farming practices, celebrate the cultural significance of millet, and encourage their consumption as a healthy and justifiable alternative to other food grains. Millets are known for their resilience in harsh conditions and are rich in nutrients, making them an important source of nourishment for millions of people.

The teachers delivered input talks in their respective online sessions and shared the key points with the students such as the importance of millets, value of a healthy balanced diet, malnutrition and its impact on society, healthy food habits and harmful effects of junk food.
