Mangaluru, Jun 19: Election for the posts of school pupil leader was held at St Aloysius college higher primary school with great enthusiasm. Students numbering six stood for the elections.
Election through the secret ballot was conducted very peacefully in a disciplined manner. The students too participated actively to select leaders for their school. Arun was the chief election officer. Harish officiated as the election officer and Irene Pais assisted in the seamless conduct of the elections. Out of the six candidates who stood for the elections, Ayush was elected as the SPL, Joylan D'Costa as the ASPL and Sanvi Lobo as the secretary. All the elected candidates were felicitated by the school dignitaries, wishing them good luck, specially in the coming academic year.
The investiture ceremony of the school cabinet of St Aloysius college higher primary school Kodialbail, Mangaluru was held on June 17.
The chief guest of the programme Dr Chandrashekar Shetty was welcomed by the school band in the presence of the correspondent Fr John D'Souza SJ, headmistress Jositta Noronha and asst headmaster Liya D'Souza were all led to the hall.
The programme commenced with a prayer song and a brief introduction to the investiture ceremony. Teacher Chitra Kini introduced the dignitaries seated on the dais, to the gathering Dr Chandrashekar Shetty, correspondent Fr John D'Souza SJ, headmistress Jositta Noronha and asst headmaster Liya D'Souza were present on the dais. The chief guest spoke to the students about the importance of democracy and gave a detailed explanation about conducting elections specially referring to the recent elections conducted in Karnataka.
Sanjana, the student, explained how the elections were conducted in the school to elect their leaders. Headmistress Jositta Noronha administered the oath to the newly elected leaders of the school cabinet. Arun, the physical director read out the names of the elected leaders with their assigned designations. The pinning of the badges to the newly appointed leaders was done by the dignitaries on the dais.
All the newly appointed leaders seemed set to shoulder the responsibilities assigned to them. Students of class 7 proposed the vote of thanks. The programme ended, singing the national anthem.
