Mangaluru: Police raid homes of 83 rowdy sheeters in DK district, 148 in city limits

Mangaluru, Jun 12: Police conducted raids on houses of 83 rowdy sheeters under the limits of Dakshina Kannada district police on Sunday morning.

Police searched for weapons inside their houses and a warning was given not to get involved in any rowdyism activities. No weapons were found during the raids.

Police officials said that they have been conducting similar raids often to monitor the activities of anti-socials.

Raids were held under Mangaluru police commissionerate limits and 148 rowdy sheeters were subjected to thorough check up according to the information provided by city police commissioner.

    Can the police raid anyone' s house just because they are declared a rowdy sheeter? Is there not a requirement for a warrant? What if the person was living with his family, parents, etc.? There should be a valid reason for the raid, even if there is a tip off they still need a warrant. And to raid 83 homes, is this a joke? The police themselves should be pulled up for this gonda-giri on their part.

    Rowdy sheeter rise is the result of double engine govt’s double engine development. These were the employment opportunities offered by double engine govt. The present congress govt has a mammoth task in hand to clean off mess and dirt created by BJP and it’s a good sign by congress and people will cooperate with open arms just as they kicked BJP out from Karnataka.
