Kasargod, Jun 10: In a tragic incident, a bamboo being carried in a tempo hit a bike on the move causing it to lose control and topple, killing its rider. The incident took place near Moonankadavu, Kudanguli here on Friday, June 9 evening.
The deceased is identified as Shambhu Kumar (43), a resident of Koodana, Peria.
Pillion rider Sathish, a resident of Kudanguli was injured.
The tempo that overtook the bike while proceeding from Kudanguli to Moonankadavu applied brakes all of a sudden after which the bamboo on the tempo hit the bike. The bike toppled and both the rider and the pillion rider on the vehicle were thrown to the road. Shambhu Kumar, who was seriously injured, was rushed to the hospital but he died without responding to the treatment.
Bedadka station police have registered a case against the tempo driver.
