Bengaluru, Jun 9: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday held discussions on resolving water problems in various parts of the State and said he will hold a video conference with district officials.

He directed officials to ensure that there should be no scarcity of drinking water and appropriate measures to be taken in this regard, following the instructions given last week itself.

Siddaramaiah added that he will hold a meeting with district level officdrs in this regard. The chief minister sought information about the reported incidents of deaths due to drinking contaminated water in Koppal during the meeting.

The chief minister has decided to launch “Shakti”, free bus travel scheme for women, who account for 50 per cent of the population, on June 11, 2023.

This is the first of the five guarantee schemes announced in Congress Manifesto, to be launched for the people of Karnataka.

Shakti scheme has brought a relief to the women of the State, who are in distress due to price hike and inflation.

The State Government is implementing all guarantee schemes within a month of coming to power despite the fact that it requires huge fund mobilisation.

The chief minister has directed ministers and legislators to ensure that the Shakti scheme reaches out to all eligible beneficiaries, beyond all caste, religion and class.

The guarantee will be launched by the chief minister in Bengaluru and simultaneously the ministers and legislators should launch the scheme in their
respective district and constituency, he said.
