Mangaluru, Jun 9: The inflow in Netravati river is increased due to good rains that showered in theWestern Ghats recently. The level of water in Thumbe has been raised to 4.30 meters. The water scarcity that was bothering the city is resolved for the time being.
The level of water in the Thumbe vented dam that supplies drinking water to the city, reduced considerably. On June 5, the level was just 1.65 meters, whereas the full capacity height of the dam is six meters.
As the inflow increased in Netravati, the level of water in AMR dam of Shambhoor started increasing. Accordingly, the water from AMR dam was flown to Thumbe vented dam. On Thursday, the level in Thumbe vented dam was 4.3 meters.
At present, water is supplied on alternate days to the city. According to Mangaluru City Corporation officials, there is no need to immediately change the present rationing rule.
