Udupi, Jun 7: The district sessions court convicted two drug peddlers and sentenced them to two years’ imprisonment on Wednesday June 7. A fine of Rs 50,000 was also levied for involving in the drug selling.
The convicted accused are Thipir Neni Aditya (21), a resident of Hyderabad and Mogili Hemanth Reddy (20), a resident of Telangana. They were arrested near Shankarnarayan temple, NH 169 on October 27 2019 while trying to sell drugs. As much as 4.034 kilogram of cannabis were was seized from the accused.
Sitharam P, inspector of CEN police station investigated the case in 2019 and Ramachandra Nayak, inspector of CEN police station, received the FSL report in 2020 and sent the chargesheet to court on October 13, 2020. Udupi district sessions court judge Shanthaveera Shivappa pronounced the judgment.
