Mangaluru, Jun 7: A leopard was found dead on Tuesday, June 6, after it rolled over a hillock near Ulepaadi Mithabettu. This incident happened near Mulki's Kinnigoli under the Aikal grama panchayat limits.
It is suspected that Mithabettu locals had laid a trap for the dreaded animal unable to bear its havoc that it wreaked in the villages. The leopard had strayed into the area looking for its prey in the night and rolled over the hillock to its death, it is suspected.
Locals heard the dogs barking loudly and when they approached the area from where they heard the sound they found that the leopard was moving around which died a few moments later.
Forest officials examined the leopard and took the body for a post-mortem examination.
The leopard had increasingly wreaked havoc on villagers in Kinnigoli and the surrounding areas and it had also killed and eaten a few pet dogs and hens.
