Udupi, Jun 3: “The union government is trying its best to solve the wrestlers’ protests happening in Delhi,” said Shobha Karandlaje, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP and union minister of state for agriculture and farmers welfare.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday June 3, she said, “We are trying to solve the problem of wrestlers. As we all know that every protest in India against the Central government is getting international support. George Soros is working to bring instability in India. Sanil, a resident of Bengaluru is the vice-president of George Soros’s NGO, Rahul Gandhi was seen with Sanil during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Sanil provides funds to people who protest against the government. The protests by Indian wrestlers against the alleged sexual harassment of female wrestlers by MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh must be investigated and the offender must be punished under law. I am not talking in support of anyone. Internal investigation is taking place, and the department and sports minister Anurag Thakur is involved himself in the investigation. The sports department will answer to any further questions.”
Speaking about the nine years of developmental work carried out by the BJP rule at the Centre, she said, “Free gas connections under Ujjwala Yojana is still in process. Providing gas through the pipeline for households of Udupi has been temporarily delayed, as the maintenance cost of it is high and we are planning to shift to cylinders. It is better to check feasibility and then provide gas connections. Due to the election, the work on the Jal Jeevan mission project got delayed. The state government has now ordered to withhold all the ongoing developmental works. I request the state government to allow the central government works to be exempted and allow the work to progress fast. I will personally speak with the chief minister and will ask for an exemption.”
Speaking about the guarantee schemes announced by the state government, said, “The state government issued five guarantees on June 2. They must check the inverse effect of it to the state and to the nation. Andhra Pradesh had also announced many guarantees. Now the state is enduring economic problems, they are finding it difficult to pay salaries. Karnataka should not go to such a situation. The state government should answer from where they are arranging money for the same. The guarantee card plan will not work for the Lok Sabha elections because people of India are intelligent, they will vote for the right person, and they will vote for the country. The statement given by the state Congress that even I can travel for free in a government bus shows their ego.
Demand for merger of Konkan Railway with South Western railways
Shobha Karandlaje has sought the merger of Konkan Railway with the South Western Railway in view of fastening the developmental work.
She said, “Earlier there was no separate lane for commercial and passenger trains. There was no doubling. But now there are different tracks for commercial and passenger trains. I am planning to add Konkan Railways to South Western Railways. Due to maintenance problems the Kaushalya Kendra has been closed and the escalator is not working in Udupi railway station. The only solution for this is adding Konkan Railways to South Western Railways. We have demanded the same because funds are not provided for all Railways. If Konkan Railways is merged with South West Railways then we can ask for funds and the maintenance of them will be checked.”
