Mangaluru: St Mary’s English Higher Primary School welcomed students to new academic year

Mangaluru, Jun 2: St Mary’s English Higher Primary School conducted a prayer service for the new academic year on June 1 in the school's new hall. The school pupil leader Sherlyn Mascarenhas compared the prayer service.

A warm welcome was offered to the newly appointed headmistress Sr Maisie with a bouquet of flowers by the SPL and ASPL. Sr Gracy the assistant headmistress welcomed the new headmistress with a brief introduction as well as the students of the school.

The lighting of the lamp was done by the headmistress Sr Maisie, assistant headmistress Sr Gracy, senior teacher Mable on behalf of the teaching staff, Sandhya on behalf of clerical staff, Prathiba on behalf of the housekeeping staff and Sherlyn the SPL and Hajira the ASPL on behalf of the students.

All the teachers were invited to come to the dias, with the candles and to light their candles from the main lamp followed by passing on the light to their class representatives as a symbol of the transformation of knowledge.

Introductory prayer, gospel reading, reflection and prayers of the offering were placed along with the symbols. The prayer service ended with a message from the headmistress along with school song.
